Weekly update from Bournemouth South NPT |

|
Hello Bournemouth South Community, It has been a wet and windy week across Bournemouth Town Centre, West Cliff, Westbourne and Lansdowne. The three neighbourhood teams have been working alongside HMRC as part of ongoing action against retailers selling illegal tobacco products across the BCP area. These products often evade safety regulations and can pose risks to users. We have also supported another large football operation, with AC Milan supporters arriving in the town for pre-match drinks at The George Tapps.
Despite some challenging weather conditions, Team A has remained busy. During Storm Austen, officers continued their patrols while fallen trees and travel disruption affected much of the South. The team has also been conducting targeted patrols in The Triangle and the Asda car park in Lansdowne following continued reports of anti-social behaviour. As a result, four people were arrested and five people were stop-searched on suspicion of drug-related offences. Officers also arrested an individual following reports of racially abusive behaviour towards members of the public, conduct that has no place in our community.
The team has also been dealing with reports of groups of young people accessing high rooftops around the town centre. Six youths were stopped this evening after being found in a dangerous location above Commercial Road. Thankfully, no one was injured and they were safely reunited with their parents. We will continue working with the council and partner agencies to tackle this behaviour before someone is seriously hurt. The group were also issued with exclusion notices, preventing them from entering the town centre for 48 hours during the school holidays. While this may seem a modest intervention, it helps disrupt repeat behaviour and improve the experience of those using the town safely.
Finally, officers were again subjected to violence while carrying out their duties. Two members of the team were assaulted while dealing with an incident involving brothers fighting after excessive alcohol consumption. One offender has since received a Conditional Caution. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries and both officers have made a full recovery. Thank you for your continued support, and please continue to report concerns to us so we can keep Bournemouth South a safe place to live, work and visit.
As always - please continue reporting ASB through 101 or the Dorset Police website. This is how our patrols are planned and prioritised.
See you next week - PS 2867 SQUIRES
